I’ve had an influx of peaceful and beautiful things I’ve encountered recently, in various places on the web.

The one that’s most recent showed up on my DeviantWatch list:

Today in art class, we had a critique. We were discussing abstract paintings hanging on the wall from our last assignment – a lot of them were really good, some were mediocre, but none were awful. All of them were finished, well thought-out, and even if not aesthetically pleasing, every one had a story behind its creation.

One in particular struck me as very peaceful. A triptych with feathery looking, growing, intertwining shaped made of different colored brush strokes. When viewed horizontally, the left and right panels had vivid color painted on a pure black background. Those shapes seemed to be growing because there was a large amount of space left at the top. The lines within the shapes were primarily vertical, adding to the sense of growing. The middle panel had similar vivid colors on a light pink backdrop, the most noticeable part being some black color that seemed to be seeping in from the other panels. The middle shape left an equal amount of negative space around it – maybe a little extra below the shape – it seemed to be static. I liked the piece as it was, but I liked it even more when it was rotated 90 degrees clockwise. There was suddenly an overwhelming calming sensation to the piece. It became a place in my mind that I really enjoyed revisiting throughout the rest of the critique. The subject matter it was based on turned out to be nightmares!

Then, this evening, when I point my browser towards Bedtime Tunes for some music, I find this amazing chill out track: World of Sleepers by Carbon Based Life Forms. Peaceful things are finding me…Does that mean I’m too stressed out?
