Wow! I’ve been using StumbleUpon to look at randomized blogs from around WordPress.com and there were more than I had expected about religion and God. I find that interesting, intriguing and wonderful.
I know that the best way to post useful information in a blog is to keep the personal out of it sometimes, but this really struck me as an amazing thing. I don’t believe in God, nor do I practice any religion. At the same time, I’m not angry at people who do believe in God or practice religion. I respect that everyone has their own way of life and I have mine. To each his own. I was still impressed and impacted by the amount of blogs I found that were about people’s religious reflections, about interpretations of the Bible and other things (mostly related to Catholicism because most of the English-Language blogs happened to belong to Catholics – there may have been others in other languages about religion and I just didn’t know it because I’m a dumb American who only understands English – same goes for LiveJournal).
This observation, which may seem silly to others, really means a lot to me because it shows that the cool idea of everybody being able to say their piece, no matter what is, is actually true. It’s fulfilling and refreshing to see a place where discussion and themes are so open. I spend most of my life at work, and most of that is isolated, silly and actually discourages discussion on topics, instead preferring to tell individuals to shut up. There are blogs on religion and then I just found The Whore Church. LOL.
Everyone can express their opinions on whatever. Here we are in Utopia, how’s the weather?
